REPORT SUMMARY BOTANICAL SURVEY IN HON ME, HON QUEO KIEN GIANG PROVINCE – (updated June 2015)

Gekko badenii was recored for the 1st time in Kien Giang Province

Gekko badenii was recorded for the 1st time in 1994 in Ba Den Mountain, Tay Ninh Province in the South of Vietnam. This species was also found in Kon Tum Province further north of Vietnam in 1994. There is no other place where the species is found.

REPORT SUMMARY BOTANICAL SURVEY IN HIEU COMMUNE, KONPLONG DISTRICT, KONTUM PROVINCE

From 08th to 12th of May 2014, Wildlife At Risk (WAR) in co-operation with Vietnam National Museum of Nature have carried out a survey on biodiversity in forest region of Hieu commune, Konplong district, Kontum province.

In terms of botany, preliminarily we have recorded 106 species, of which belong to 90 genera and 58 families. According to Red Book and Red List of Vietnam, there is one endangered (EN) and one vulnerable (VU) species. There are also two species of group IA (Government’ Decree 32/2006).

Investigation of Sea Snakes in Vietnam

The presentstudy identifies what appears to be one of the largest marine reptile exploitation efforts on Earth centered aroundsea snakes. Specifically, our objectives were to establish the geographical location, temporal distribution, species composition, harvested biomass, and socio-economic aspects of present-day sea snake exploitation from the Gulf of Thailand via southern Vietnam.
